RUNNING THE COAST UPDATE

Read the latest news from our good friend Jamie Howard about his epic new film Running the Coast.

We have been traveling the coasts following the Striped Bass (aka Rockfish, aka Stripers, aka Rock) migration. What a ride it has been. Here are some random highlights from our journey so far:

– IGFA Striped Bass World Record Holder Greg Myerson got run out of his house by a ghost. Luckily only after he’d shown the skills that won him angler of the year for the past 2 years.

– Cinematographer Todd Free dropped a Red Camera battery to the bottom while we were tracking a bass on the flats off Nantucket. Ever have to replace a red battery in Nantucket? It ain’t easy and it ain’t cheap.

– We saw big Stripers lured up to the surface off of Martha’s Vineyard by Captain Jamie Boyle using an artificial teaser.

– Our aerial footage of the coast was a keeper but the cam attached to the bottom of one plane fell off on landing.

– The Stripers we caught at day break in Long Island were so large that they touched ground Greg Myerson who is 6′ 4″ held them up.

– Rock god Roger Waters fished the blitz with us. He caught both an Albies and Stripers with light glinting off the Montauk light house in the background. Just before his microphone got wiped out by a wave and shorted: “…There is no pain you are receding, a distant ship smoke on the horizon…You are only coming through in waves…” Indeed.

It’s been one hell of an adventure and I feel blessed it’s all worked out with big fish in special places.
