NIGHTSHIFT

Posted on

Night fishing takes a different type of personality to do it right. Patient, tough, creative, even immune to scary movie recall. Once you master that, you still need to find that perfect headlamp. But, the right headlamp ain’t easy to find.

1. Don’t sell out. Either spend the extra money and grab a lamp with a red-light option or do some extra talking. Stick to your guns. Preferably a lamp that activates the red-light without cycling through white lighting.

2. If your the kind that always fishes with a hat, don’t buy a lamp with the overhead strap. And check for a battery meter while your at it, so you’re not caught off guard when that lamp conks out.

3. Waterproof, not “water resistant.” You’ll find out why once that headlamps at your feet.

4. Try it, in store. Go through a literal dry-run and make sure your new perfect headlamp has the “it” factor.

5. Roll through your red-light, low-light, high-light, alt-light options.

6. Shine red-light in your friend’s eyes as you show him your nightcap catch.
