State of Alaska Intervenes in Pebble Mine Case

I will not go where people don’t want us. I just won’t. We’ve got enough on our plate without having communities against us.”  – Anglo American CEO Cynthia Carroll in Fast Company online magazine

The State of Alaska has intervened in the case of the Pebble Limited Partnership versus the Lake and Peninsula Borough. A judge had recently ruled that the Save Our Salmon Initiative which limits large scale mining development, could proceed as planned but the Pebble Partnership, and now the State of Alaska, have appealed the ruling.

The state’s motion for expedited consideration of the case was quickly granted and the Supreme Court has agreed to make a decision in the case by August 15.
