Most fishermen agree that there are three important areas that you must learn, and try to master, before you can catch fish on a regular basis.
The more you understand about these three areas the more fish you will catch. We can’t say that we will catch bigger fish but we probably will catch more fish.
The three areas of knowledge are casting (presentation), the selection of the proper fly and the area that you are fishing. All of these are important and the combination of all three would enable the fisherman to catch more fish. There is no particular order of importance to these three areas because they are all equal.
The presentation of the fly to the fish is important because the artificial fly that you cast onto the water must look and float like the real thing so that the fish can be fooled into thinking that this is a reliable source of food.
